His name is Naoto Matsumura, and he is one living proof that there is still some good left in humanity… Known as «the last man in Fukushima», he is the only one left still living within the 20-km exclusion zone around the Fukushima nuclear plant. His reason for doing this: so he could take care of the abandoned animals left behind by their owners, the ones that could not save themselves.
Mahatma Gandhi had once said: «The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated». In this case, Mr. Matsumura is one hell of a great man—he took it upon himself to take care of these abandoned animals, at sacrificing his own health in the process.
